Clay balls in the coarser grade - LECA for dutch buckets and larger containers.
The same fired expanded clay as the 8-15 mm grade, in a larger pebble. Coarser media drains faster and holds more air, which is what a heavy-rooting vine crop in a bucket wants and what a seedling in a net cup does not.
As with the finer grade it does not break down, so it is washed and reused rather than replaced each cycle.
